"I don't think he's a smart person, but he's got a loud voice, and as far as I'm concerned, I haven't made that decision".

President Donald Trump clashed with CNN journalist Jim Acosta during a news conference in the East Room of the White House. In her statement announcing Acosta's suspension, she said the White House won't tolerate "a reporter placing his hands on a young woman just trying to do her job".

The president and the reporter sparred at a press briefing Wednesday, culminating with a White House intern trying to pull the microphone away from Mr Acosta.

Reporters asked Trump Friday how long Acosta's press pass would be revoked.

When Acosta challenged the president on his use of the word "invasion" to describe a caravan of mainly Honduran migrants and asylum seekers heading to the U.S. border, Trump launched an attack on the CNN journalist, as an aide tried to physically remove the microphone from Acosta's hands. Trump added, "The way you treat Sarah Huckabee is disgusting".

Trump also took a shot at CNN journalist, April Ryan, calling her "nasty" and a "loser". Trump on Wednesday accused Alcindor of asking a racist question when she inquired about the president receiving support from some white nationalists.

"She doesn't know what the hell she is doing", the president said.

CNN journalist Abby Phillip asked President Donald Trump a question as he spoke with reporters before departing for France on the South Lawn of the White House, today, in Washington. She knows it. These are dark times and not only because of the pack of lying liars in charge.

"That's such a racist question", Trump responded.

Acosta has served as a White House correspondent for CNN since 2013 when he covered the Obama administration. "He gets paid to do that", Trump said. "She intentionally disseminated doctored video footage to discredit a reputable journalist".

These comments come after a very contentious week between the White House and Jim Acosta.

Sanders "provided fraudulent accusations and cited an incident that never happened", the USA cable network said. There are those saying this was definitely doctored (the AP) and those saying it definitely was not (Vice) and several people in between saying this doesn't appear to be doctored but does have a couple extra frames along with framerate, compression, and other issues that made it look different than the original C-Span clip. "When you are in the White House, this is a very sacred place to me, a very special place. Ask tough questions, avoid making statements or arguing during a press event and report the news, don't become the news".

Trump also had some (more) choice words for two other CNN personalities.
