Celtics F Gordon Hayward booed in return to Utah

Of course, Hayward was drafted by and spent the first seven years of his National Basketball Association career in Salt Lake City, only to leave the Jazz in free agency last summer and head to Boston.

Australian NBA star Joe Ingles has turned in yet another dazzling shooting display, pouring in a career-best 27 points as the Utah Jazz prevailed over the Boston Celtics. Now, he's 100 percent healthy and able to take the floor, meaning that Utah fans get to welcome him back for the first time since he left.

The 31-year-old Australian was lights out from the field, knocking down 10 of his 14 field goals including five three-point shots to go along with five rebounds and an equal team-high seven assists. He broke his left ankle in Boston's opener last season.

In limited minutes, as he continues to work his way back from his injury, Hayward scored 13 points on 3-for-9 shooting from the field. He spent his first seven seasons in Utah, averaging 15.7 points per game, before he signed with Boston. As expected, Hayward was met with boos during the introductions and when he touched the ball each time.

"I really just focused on some of our game plan execution stuff, which we didn't end up doing that great but I had my wife here, which was good to have her", he said. Crowder had 20, and Gobert finished with 17 points and 15 rebounds. "I think over the past couple of games, we've done that".

Terry Rozier scored 22 points and Jayson Tatum added 21 for the Celtics. Boston will look to right the ship Sunday night when it wraps up its five-game western road trip against the Portland Trail Blazers.

"As good as we were defensively in the first nine games, I don't think we've been as good the last three", coach Brad Stevens said. With his fifth 3-pointer of the night at 9:25 in the third, Ingles jumped to sixth-place on the Jazz's all-time three-pointers made list (512), passing former Utah guard Deron Williams in the process. "I thought we actually did an OK job on the initial drives in isolation, but we didn't get rebounds in a lot of cases".

Utah opened the third quarter on a 17-6 run. The Jazz scored 50 points in the paint.
