First teaser poster for Disney's live-action Aladdin

Will Smith has given Disney fans a reason to get excited tonight. In addition to classic songs from the first film, the live-action movie features new songs co-written by Menken and Pasek & Paul.

In the original film, "street rat" Aladdin frees the Genie from a magic lamp, earning three wishes in the process.

The first poster from Disney's live-action Aladdin is here, and it's bound to make you nostalgic. The tagline reads, "Choose Wisely". The Suicide Squad actor, who will be playing the magical Genie in the much-awaited film, took to his Instagram account to share the first poster. Smith followed it up by saying, "Can't wait for y'all to see me BLUE!", alluding to his role as Genie. Will shined in various different Genie looks.

The live-action Aladdin, directed by Guy Ritchie, also stars Marwan Kenzari, Navid Negahban, Nasim Pedrad, Billy Magnussen, and Numan Acar. In the 1992 film, animation was an essential part in bringing Robin Williams' wild, manic voice work to life. Remaking a Disney film is certainly a big shift in tone and story content than even his most accessible films like Sherlock Holmes but Disney seems to have enough trust in the director to hand him one of the studio's most beloved '90s animated films. Aladdin is hitting theaters some time in May. The live-action versions of The Lion King and Dumbo will also debut in 2019.
