Verne Troyer's Death Officially Ruled a Suicide

Actor Verne Troyer, best known for playing "Mini Me" in the Austin Powers series, has passed away at the age of 49.

The coroner's office released its findings Wednesday following an autopsy and investigation into Troyer's April 21 death.

Troyer, who was born with a form of dwarfism that stopped him growing past 2ft 8in, spent the final three weeks of his life in hospital in Los Angeles for alcohol intoxication. The manner of his death was certified as a suicide, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

In the full coroner's report obtained exclusively obtained by Radar, the medical examiner claimed the star suffered from "suicidal ideations", "depression" and "chronic alcohol use" before taking his own life. He also played Griphook in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone and had roles in Men in Black, Volcano, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and more. A statement shared by his family made references to the actor's "battles" as well as depression and suicide, but did not indicate a cause of death. "Over the years he's struggled and won, struggled and won, struggled and fought some more, but unfortunately, this time was too much", the statement read. However, he was candid about battling alcohol addiction. You never know what kind of battle someone is going through inside. He wanted to make everyone smile, be happy, and laugh. "And always know, it's never too late to reach out to someone for help", the post said. In May, Myers teared up remembering his friend during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

Troyer addressed his current situation at the time in an Instagram post, writing "I'd like to address a very personal situation". I always want to make that point that, as written, Mini-Me is nearly a prop.
