Samsung Intros Galaxy A9 (2018), World’s First Quad Camera Smartphone

Samsung has announced the Galaxy A9 with a rear camera system comprised of four sensors. Theoretically, so many rear cameras allow for an incredibly flexible photography platform the likes of which we have not seen before.

In their announcement the firm's president of mobile communications, DJ Koh, said: "As a global leader in smartphone innovation, we understand the demand for meaningful innovation in a fast-paced world driven by visual communication". As far as the cameras are concerned, the Samsung Galaxy A9 (2018) packs a 24-megapixel (f/1.7) + 10-megapixel (f/2.4) + 8-megapixel (f/2.4) primary camera on the rear and a 24-megapixel front shooter for selfies.

The Galaxy A9 will cost between €550 and €599 ($635 and $690), according to AllAboutSamsung. Also, let us know your thoughts down in the comments on what you think about Samsung's latest killer mid-ranger.

The Galaxy A9 (2018) receives power from 3,8000mAh battery. Unlike the recently launched Galaxy A7, the new Galaxy A9 still sports a rear-facing fingerprint sensor. The display size measures in at 6.3 inches diagonally, so it is larger than the Galaxy S9+ Plus and only a fraction smaller than the Galaxy Note 9. Similar to the P20 Pro, the Galaxy A9 (2018) features a gradient around back that goes from pink, blue, or black at the bottom to a lighter hue of those colors at the top.

The phone will come with plenty of storage, at 128GB (6GB RAM) and up to 512GB of expandable memory.

Android 8.0 Oreo comes pre-installed on the Galaxy A9 (2018), but on top of it, you'll find Samsung's custom Experience UI, of course.

As expected, a teardown of Samsung's new Galaxy Note 9 revealed some interesting design choices in the build of both the handset itself and the S Pen. It offers 2x optical zoom. Galaxy A9 will be available in select markets fromNovember. The company's United Kingdom branch did tell us that the device will hit the United Kingdom in November, and that it will cost £549, but we do not have any specific info for other markets.
