KEMH Glows Pink For Breast Cancer Awareness

The American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk will be held Sunday, October 7 at Cantigny Park in Wheaton to unite communities, honor those touched by the disease and raise awareness and funds for a world without breast cancer. The department has already sold 140 pink patches.

Everyone on board is either a breast cancer survivor or a current fighter. Mark's Hospital employees, patients and family members have been invited to write the name of a loved one who has been affected by breast cancer and hang it on trees that will be displayed throughout the hospital or trees on the facility's campus.

"Anything we can do to bring awareness to the issue or support our staff who have, or are fighting cancer is worth the time", He said.

The flight also kicks off Delta's month-long fundraising efforts to benefit the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. "Bringing awareness to all cancers and sharing information about detection and prevention is paramount".

Being overweight can increase the risk of many different cancers, including breast cancer, especially after menopause. The Academy is nationally recognized for its innovative training programs and active stakeholder involvement.

The department is also selling the patches, and the money raised will go toward Cancer Services of Gaston County.
