Will Smith was a little jumpy during his 50th birthday celebration Tuesday.
Cameras, which captured the stunt for a livestream on YouTube, showed the actor hooked to a harness and bungee cords dangling over a gorge in northeastern Arizona.
The video was hosted by Smith's longtime friend and Fresh Prince of Bel-Air costar Alfonso Ribiero, and Smith's family was also on hand for the 1,000-foot leap, including mom Caroline; wife Jada Pinkett-Smith; and kids Trey, Jaden, and Willow. Smith said the decision to jump above the Grand Canyon relates to a family trip in 1976.
One's 50th birthday is a huge milestone, and on his September 25 "born day" actor/rapper Will Smith went all out by bungee jumping out of a helicopter over the Grand Canyon.
Smith hyped his leap with almost an hour's worth of interviews with family and friends.
There was an online lottery for a chance to see the jump in person. The group helps people confront some of their biggest fears and discomforts, all while making videos in the process.
Though he was justifiably afraid, Smith is no stranger to extreme challenges.
