Vikings sign Dan Bailey, waive Daniel Carlson

NFL insider Ian Rapoport is reporting that the Vikings have agreed to terms with former Dallas Cowboys placekicker Dan Bailey statistically the second most accurate kicker in NFL history

Vikings release kicker Daniel Carlson, reportedly will sign Dan Bailey

On Monday, the Vikings let go of rookie kicker Daniel Carlson and replaced him with veteran Dan Bailey.

Carlson was cut after missing three field goals in the Vikings' 29-29 tie with the Packers on Sunday.

The Minnesota Vikings announced Tuesday they have waived wide receiver Stacy Coley. Still, Forbath made 89 percent of his kicks, even if his eight missed extra points with the Vikings maddened Zimmer.

"Yeah, it was pretty easy", Zimmer said. Zimmer responded Monday, when asked about waiving the former Auburn kicker.

"It feels bad. Obviously I let my team down", Carlson said. He was 17-of-25 on career field goal attempts and 28-of-31 on PATs. "That is frustrating. That shorter one I should never miss like that".

The team announced on Monday that they've chose to cut ties with Carlson in a move that comes less than 24 hours after the kicker's disastrous 0-for-3 performance in Green Bay on Sunday.

Head coach Mike Zimmer surely won't stand for that, and a tough conversation about a kicker general manager Rick Spielman made a decision to trade up for in April's draft is looming.

With a roster built for the Super Bowl, the Minnesota Vikings were in no position to practice patience with a struggling kicker. Dan Bailey, the second-most accurate field goal kicker in National Football League history, is a free agent after being released by the Dallas Cowboys two weeks ago.
