Bailly came through the youth ranks at Espanyol having joined the club as a teenager but developed in to one of the most exciting young defenders in Europe during a short stint at Villarreal that earned him a £30m move to Old Trafford in the summer of 2016. The Red Devils have won 3 games and lost 2 so far, raising questions about several players and their commitment.
Now according to the MEN another swap deal could be on the cards, with Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil and Manchester United centre-back Eric Bailly linked with trading places.
This year it was Alexis Sanchez heading to Old Trafford, and Henrikh Mkhitaryan travelling in the opposite direction.
Bailly has been relegated to the bench for United's last three matches, only coming on as a substitute in the 89th minute of Saturday's win against Watford at Vicarage Road.
He has often looked like Mourinho's best defender. However, the 24-year-old seems to have tumbled behind Victor Lindelof and Chris Smalling in the pecking order and is reportedly unhappy with the fact.
Reports are now stating that the two Premier League rivals could be set for a similar deal again in the next window.
The Mirror says the north London duo are keen on signing Bailly if he makes it clear he wants a new challenge and will continue to monitor developments ahead of the winter transfer window.
