LA Galaxy striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored against Toronto FC on Saturday night to reach 500 goals for club and country in his career. Ibrahimovic swept his right leg up, poking the ball past Toronto goalkeeper Alex Bono with a shot that bounced off the right post for the score, cutting the Galaxy's deficit to 3-1.
Galaxy were 3-0 down at the time but his goal sparked a comeback as they drew level before finally losing 5-3.
Ibrahimovic's first goal for the Galaxy was a 40 yard wonder strike that made the score 3-3 in the Los Angeles derby, following that up with a 90th minute victor in his debut match. "I was close to the goal". It reminds me of a goal I did in Ajax.
Aside from Ibrahimovic's landmark goal, the match was also noteworthy for the heated confrontation which took place between the 36-year-old and Michael Bradley, the son of LA Galaxy manager Bob Bradley. "I was just trying to hit the goal and it went in". "Obviously it's not good to lose ... but I'm happy for Toronto because they'll be remembered as my 500th victim", he was quoted as saying to TSN after the match.
Jay Chapman added an insurance goal in stoppage time with a low shot to the corner.
'He thinks he is the philosopher of football, ' Ibrahimovic said of Bradley in the LA Galaxy locker room. "I probably have more goals than the guys on the field have games together".
