France's World Cup-winning captain Lloris is "expected to be out for several weeks" with a thigh injury according to the club, while manager Mauricio Pochettino is more hopeful Alli could return in time for the trip to Brighton on Sep 22.

Pochettino said he took some of the blame for the performance at Watford because he "could not change the situation" but believes after a painful 15 days stewing on it his side can lift the mood on Saturday.

Alli has been ruled out of the match against Liverpool due to injury, and Tottenham manager Pochettino has suggested that the 22-year-old England global striker will miss the Champions League match against Inter.

The head coach added: "He's the first that regrets everything, and all that happened yesterday is not good".

He was given a 20-month driving ban and fined £50,000 at Westminster Magistrates' Court. He made a mistake and he's suffering all the punishment of society. The staff, the club, the fans, us, and he said, "Any decision that you take gaffer or the club I think is fair". We are all not sure yet the people from last season. That is important. And, of course, now it is a massive lesson for him; a life lesson. We need to keep working and improving.

"Like the man that he is, he's going to pay and accept everything".

Alli suffered a hamstring injury against Spain in the first half and Tottenham are privately frustrated that the midfielder then completed the game.

I am so good, I am so happy.

"We know Harry Kane very well through the four years we have worked with him". Harry's so big a player everyone expects him, in every single action, to do something different.

Pochettino said: "Look, when in England the transfer window closed and in Europe closed I think we move on". Don't worry for me - we need to be anxious for the real things.
