Missy Elliott Surprising Her 'Funky White Sister' on 'Ellen' Is Exactly What You Need to See Today

Missy Elliott surprises her 'funky white sister' while performing 'Work It' on Ellen

"I have to sit back, I can't even tell you", Halsey said to Ellen DeGeneres of seeing Elliott's tweet. Misdemeanor herself praised her "funky white sister" for putting her thang down, flipping and reversing it.

As fans will recall, Halsey was catapulted into internet fame this summer after she posted a video of her rapping the song at Goddard Park in Rhode Island.

The 58-year-old brandished a shofar and, given the song's explicit subject matter, got about as raunchy as a daytime network TV broadcast will allow.

"I learned, and I read the words, and I studied it, and the reaction that I got was so positive that it became my go-to song", she explained to DeGeneres. "Everybody wants to hear it". While Mary was bringing down the house mid-song, Missy sneakily crept behind her and sang along. "Mary is one of the sweetest souls I met".

Now Elliott and Halsey have officially performed the classic song together.

"When she first said, 'Missy's funky white sister, ' I'm like, 'Who is this?!'" she said. Halsey seems to have the wind knocked out of her for a few seconds before performing a duet with Elliott.

Elliott also surprised Halsey with a jacket that said "funky white sister". Missy revealed that the mumbled lyrics right after the line, "I put my thing down, flip it and reverse it", are actually that same phrase - only reversed. "So when I listen, I'm like, she knows all the words, but the sound effects-she made the elephant noise, all of that".
