But first the Browns have to win. After all, it's now been 598 days and counting - and 17 straight losses - since the Browns' last victory. And when that time finally comes, Bud Light is prepared to help fans celebrate with free beer that has been locked up in "Victory Fridges" at 10 Cleveland-area bars.
The special fridges will automatically unlock celebratory beers after Cleveland gets its first regular season win, the team announced. Don't Browns fans deserve *something* for enduring one win over two seasons?
Winning is its own reward, but Bud Light wants to give beleaguered Browns fans something else should their team happen to win a game in 2018. Last season, the team went 0-16, setting the bar high for football futility. We love you for it, and so does @budlight. "We have the most passionate, loyal fans in sports, and we are excited to partner with Bud Light on this promotion that they created specifically for Northeast Ohio due to Browns fans' unmatched support of our team". The fridges will be opened by smart technology as soon as the game is over. "We know it. You know it. #LetsGo Brownies".
Bud Light's vice president of marketing, Andy Goeler, says that several of the eight feet tall "Victory Fridges", which hold about 200 16-ounce aluminum bottles each, will be stationed inside FirstEnergy Stadium, with the rest being dropped off around the city and in suburban areas, in places where patrons need to be 21 or older. The refrigerators will open whether the victory comes at home or on the road.
The Browns' opening game and the first chance for the refrigerators to unlock comes at home against the Pittsburgh Steelers on September 9.
