Paul Pogba's freaky "slow motion" run-up for his penalty may have come as a surprise to Manchester United fans at Old Trafford last night but a few may have remembered it's a technique he regularly uses - notably doing it in an FA Youth Cup quarter final away at Anfield as a 17-year old with a very different outcome.
United would be absolutely mad to let Pogba leave now that the transfer window in the Premier League has closed and they can not replace him until January.
The United manager offered an olive branch on Friday when he described his captain as a "monster" in midfield.
After the World Cup I am the same.
"Unlucky? I think we were without the clinical edge needed to finish the good moves we had in the first half", Puel told Sky Sports.
"Will his style of play bring us an EPL (English Premier League) title? I hope so. Will it entertain the fans? No".
I had my plans, and I had my plans for many months, and I find myself in the beginning of the Premier League with the market closed, and I'm in a situation that I thought was not going to be the situation I would be in.
Ferguson announced his retirement at the end of the 2012/2013 season and since then three new faces have arrived - David Moyes, Louis Van Gaal and Mourinho.
The Red Devils took care of Leicester City at home 2-1, despite not looking all that sharp.
United have only won three trophies since, the Europa League, Fa Cup, League Cup.
But there is something brewing behind the scenes and there has been for some time after Mourinho left Pogba out of the team on multiple occasions last season and publicly criticized him.
"They finished second which was great, but not winning anything at Man United is a major disappointment".
There will be plenty of eyes on the Theatre of Dreams this term to see whether Mourinho can indeed make do with the players he has and nurture some of his young talents, having been unable to make the big changes to his squad that he has been accustomed to throughout his career.
