Everton sign Barça's Mina and Gomes, Shakhtar's Bernard

GETTY Everton are set to sign Bernard

While Bernard was finalising his transfer at Everton's Finch Farm training ground a club delegation led by the director of football, Marcel Brands, concluded deals for Mina and Gomes in Barcelona.

The 23-year-old had been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United but the Toffees have won the race, shelling out almost £30million.

Next to follow was Mina from Barcelona, as the Colombian centre-back joined the Toffees for a fee of £27m - though the La Liga champions have revealed they do have a buy-back clause in his contract.

Mina's stock soared during Colombia's run in the World Cup in which he was responsible for three goals, allowing Barcelona to make over three times what they paid.

Barcelona confirmed the deal for Gomes that will see Everton pay the Portugal global midfielder's wages for the full season, while also paying a loan fee of £2m (€2.25m).

Bernard, a 25-year-old capped 14 times by Brazil, was a free agent after his contract with Shakhtar Donetsk expired.

"It is important that the club want to fight for something", Mina told EvertonTV. When I found out about this opportunity and what the manager wanted out of me I was happy.

Left-back Joe Bryan secured a reported £7m switch from Bristol City after a strong season in the Championship and will hope to form a strong partnership with the highly rated Ryan Sessegnon, while Timothy Fosu-Mensah strengthens Fulham on the right side of defence following a loan departure from Manchester United.

"Everton is a club with a great structure and a lot of tradition, historically the fourth most successful club in England".

Everton officials were in Barcelona on Thursday to put both players through a medical so their moves could go through ahead of the 5pm deadline for the English transfer window.

Everton always was a big option for me, especially after speaking with the coach, Marco Silva.
