The final WWE match for the "Beast Incarnate" may now be known.
- Above is a new WWE Now video with Cathy Kelley looking at WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar's surprise appearance at UFC 226 and the beef with UFC Heavyweight & Light Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier.
Meanwhile, Diaz also had problems with Cormier, who he criticized for his UFC 200 performance against former middleweight champion Anderson Silva not to mention getting involved in this near melee with Lesnar just seconds after knocking out Stipe Miocic to become heavyweight champion.
The rumors and speculation have all said that Lesnar would put his title on the line at SummerSlam and that it would likely be his last match in WWE.
On Thursday, Wrestling Observer reported that Lesnar will be wrestling at SummerSlam which was a concern of some fans. The original plan had a multi-man match at Extreme Rules with the victor becoming the No. 1 contender for the Universal Title, but that was scrapped.
Brock's UFC appearance got some major media attention, but WWE made no mention of Lesnar this week on Raw.
Now, the idea is that the victor of the Roman Reigns vs. Bobby Lashley match will take on Lesnar at SummerSlam, and that is expected to be the former.
Lesnar's opponent for SummerSlam has yet to be decided.
Furthermore, Meltzer claimed that McMahon wants to create the idea that the Universal Champion has walked out, is going to the UFC, turned his back on the WWE fans, isn't coming back to drop the title and is holding up the belt.
This is basically a redux of their program ahead of WrestleMania, where Reigns constantly harped on Lesnar's absentee status as a champion, but that didn't work as hoped and ultimately Lesnar retained in brutal, bloody fashion.
Over the next couple of weeks as WWE sets itself up for SummerSlam and beyond, the Universal Championship picture could change for the first time in over a year.
