USA adult film star Stormy Daniels, who claims she had an affair with President Donald Trump in 2006, was arrested in a strip club on Wednesday in what her lawyer said was a setup. "We will fight all bogus charges".
Daniels is suing the president and his former longtime personal lawyer and fixer Michael Cohen, and trying to invalidate a nondisclosure agreement she signed days before the 2016 presidential election. "This was a setup and politically motivated".
He followed up with this tweet detailing her arrest.
While Daniels was performing at Sirens, a strip club in Columbus, some patrons touched her in a "non-sexual" way, her lawyer, Michael Avenatti, told The Associated Press.
It also outlaws touching a nude or semi-nude dancer or their clothing in or in the direct vicinity of the club - unless the person is a member of the dancer's immediate family.
A woman who answered the phone at the strip club declined to comment on whether Daniels had been arrested or on whether her performance was still scheduled.
He said he expected his client to be released on bail and that she would be charged with a misdemeanor for allowing touching.
Cohen has said he made the payment.
Stormy Daniels is pictured during an interview with Anderson Cooper about her alleged affair with Donald Trump. He was married to Melania Trump at the time and has denied Daniel's claim.
