Like a greased cat, Hearthstone's next expansion seemingly slipped out of the bag earlier today, and now it's official. The Boomsday Project also includes a new mode called The Puzzle Lab, which is exactly what it sounds like.
The set and its 135 cards will be the first to focus on mechs since Hearthstone's first expansion, Goblins & Gnomes, which released in 2014. Those who make it through 100 unique puzzles will be facing Dr.Boom in the final showdown.
Blizzard Entertainment announced Hearthstone's next expansion this morning: The Boomsday Project. For example, Spider Bomb will give another Mech +2/+2 and a Deathrattle. This will combine cards to share stats and powers.
The other new mechanic doesn't take effect until the endgame when you have a full slate of 10 mana to work with.
(4) Omega Defender (2/6)(Epic Neutral Minion): Taunt.
The Boomsday Project is coming on August 7, 2018, for PC, iOS, Android and Mac. The cost to play it doesn't change, so Druids in particular will have added incentive to boost their mana count to the top as quickly as possible. There are also Projects, which provide bonuses to both players, and Omega cards, which offer powerful bonuses when played at 10 mana. When a card like this is played, it'll be a race to see which player can exploit the advantage fastest. We've seen Legendary Minions and Weapons, but this is a first time spells are getting the treatment.
You read that right: draw your whole deck. It does have some good synergy with Fal'Dorei Strider, which summons creatures as you work through your deck.
There's a reveal livestream due on July 23, where we'll get a much closer look at the new cards.
(5) Myra's Unstable Element (Legendary Rogue Spell): Draw the rest of your deck. A new Warrior hero replacement was also teased, and while the card's title was legible, none of the effects could be read. But hey, there's still plenty more to be revealed. For $80, you can upgrade to the 80-pack bundle which comes with the free golden Legendary, the Mecha-Jaraxxus card back, and the Mecha-Jaraxxus Warlock hero skin which, I have to admit, is glorious.
As for what this upcoming expansion will bring, we have you covered on that front. However, the screen shown looks more like the mode which launched with The Frozen Throne expansion, with non-randomized bosses.
