Bentley will celebrate its 100th anniversary next year, and to celebrate, the company is releasing 100 special-edition Mulsannes. In particular, the auto pays homage to the Bentley founder's personal 1930 8 Litre. Designed by Mulliner, only 100 cars will be built, which will each contain a slice of the original crankshaft taken from W.O. Bentley's personal vehicle. One of these will be a slice of the crankshaft from the engine in W.O. Bentley's actual 8 Litre.
The hero color for the vehicle will be Onyx black, though customers will be able to specify alternatives, and there will be further special touches such as a chrome hood strip and available chrome radiator shell and grille. Centenery badging (Bentley is 100 years old in 2019) and W.O.'s signature feature on the lower bumper. There's also a doodle of the auto in question - a Bentley 8 Litre - just so you can explain your wonderfully nerdy artefact to your fellow rear seat passenger as you construct another Jägerbomb. These are matched by a cocktail cabinet that features a display with the crankshaft of the founder's 8 Litre (see gallery), which was rebuilt back in 2006 when it was bought back by Bentley.
Bentley Motors reacquired the auto in 2006, when it was then restored, replacing the original crankshaft. An inscription sits just below this, detailing the significance of this piece of Bentley history. Leather in Fireglow with Beluga stitching (that's red and black to you peasants) is complemented by dark walnut veneers on the dashboard, door inlays and steering wheel. The interior also includes Fireglow lambswool rugs, glass tumblers, privacy curtains and rear seat entertainment.
The W.O. Edition by Mulliner is available on all three Mulsanne models, including the Speed.
