As for the map itself, Epic has added in a new desert biome which was something that was heavily hinted it over the last couple of days with all sorts of teasers.
A brand new vehicle has been added: the All Terrain Kart or ATK.
Of course, Epic is also hoping to take more of your money with a new Season 5 Battle Pass available as an in-app purchase, offering 100 levels and more than 100 new rewards.
Check out the full list of patch notes below.
It's equally unclear when these new items could go live in the game, but it's likely going to be spread out over the next few days and possibly weeks, both as items you can obtain from the shop and those perhaps higher up the new Season 5 Battle Pass.
You're also invited to step through a rift, with Epic promising "you're in for a wild ride". The ATK is basically a ruggedized golf cart that enables speed boosts when drifting. The height of the jump will depend on how well players are able to lean back and release at the same time. The roof of the kart also acts as a bounce pad. There are truckloads of tweaks, changes and additions - ranging from weapon alterations to new vehicles - so study up before dropping. Where storm circles would normally just shrink, Epic has decided that the seventh, eighth and ninth circles should move in random directions, giving campers a whole new headache to deal with. However, the first storm circle will now only ever do 1 damage, no matter how long you're stuck in it.
Some changes to gameplay include adjustments to shotguns, which will now indicate how many pellets have hit, and it will be visible within the damage reticle. Epic Games has also made it a bit more hard to "double pump" in season 5.
Another change is how players are able to earn extra XP when playing big team modes. More importantly however, the Nintendo Switch version of Fortnite gets gyroscope control support and Fortnite iOS gets a host of options such as autofire.
