Several injured after ‘minor explosion’ at London tube station


An earlier statement from the force said: "Met officers are dealing with a suspicious package at #Southgate tube station".

There have also been reports of a suspicious package at the station.

Police advised people to avoid the area around the station.

We remain at Southgate Tube station in London following a reported minor explosion.

British Transport Police said there were no reports of serious injuries and their enquiries continue at Southgate station.

Police were called to Southgate underground station when the "minor" explosion was first reported.

"Officers are on scene alongside @metpoliceuk".

In their latest statement, several hours after the incident, The Metropolitan Police said: "The scene has been examined by specialist officers".

"We will update with more info as we get it".

The Piccadilly line is experiencing severe delays between Arnos Grove and Cockfosters.

He told the Standard: "The police moved us on, but they said there was an explosion in the station".

Police add that the explosion "appears to have been minor", with no serious injuries believed to have occurred.
