"It's hard to take it back", said Thomas Markle, who was unable to eventually take part in the wedding ceremony due to heart surgery.

As you may remember, only days before the wedding, Thomas was involved in a scandal about staging paparazzi photos.

Meghan Markle's father Thomas has revealed she was left in tears when he told her he wouldn't be attending the Royal Wedding.

Mr Burrell, who was a servant for the royal family for several years, said he almost "spat my Corn Flakes out" when he saw the interview on Good Morning Britain. "She knows how to choose who she wants to be with", he said.

It comes as Thomas revealed how he cried while watching Meghan get married on TV, after a heart attack prevented him from travelling to the United Kingdom for the big day.

Mr Markle also revealed how Prince Harry could be "open to the experiment of Brexit" as he discussed the UK's decision to leave the European Union with his son-in-law.

Princess Diana's former butler has blasted the royals today for failing to protect Thomas Markle following his bombshell interview.

As for the invasion of his privacy after the engagement was announced, he said: 'I'm very proud of her, and I'll adjust to this. "As he said, it cost him, really, the trip to go walk his daughter down the aisle because all the stress and pressure from his own bad behavior boiled over and he couldn't get the flight".

"He said, 'Give Donald Trump a chance.' I sort of disagreed with that".

"They said the important thing is you get better".

When asked by Morgan whether Harry is a Trump supporter, Thomas responded: "I would hope not, but at the time he might have been".

In the interview, Markle said he has yet to meet Prince Harry in person but described him as a "very nice man", a "gentleman" and "very likable".

"That was a mistake", he said, explaining that most photos of him before that point made him "look negative" and that he initially liked the idea of "improving my look". They would take pictures of my hand grabbing a beer; they'd take pictures of me getting out of my vehicle, taking the garbage out; they'd take pictures of me buying a toilet and making a big deal out of it.

"I was complaining that I didn't like Donald Trump". Markle told GMB that he was both grateful and jealous that Prince Charles was able to step in at the last minute.

"I don't think the stork has hit the air yet, but I think it will happen sooner or later", said Thomas. Members of the royal family do not vote in elections and are expected to remain politically neutral - at least in public. "Promise me you will never raise your hand against my daughter and of course I will grant you my permission".
