Lately, Mohammad Shami was dropped and was replaced by uncapped Navdeep Saini in the Indian Test team for the ongoing one-off Test match against Afghanistan after he was failed the fitness test at National Cricket Academy.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had announced that Kohli would have his fitness test on June 15.

Rayudu had a made a comeback in the Indian ODI squad after one and a half years due to his tremendous form in the Indian Premier League.

A lot of people were shocked as to how someone who has scored close to 600 runs in the IPL couldn't maintain requisite fitness standard within three weeks of the tournament's completion.

"Ravi has instructed that every player must pass the Yo-Yo test". Sanju Samson was also dropped from the India A team as he flunked the test.

Kohli, along with Dhoni, Suresh Raina, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and the injured Kedar Jadhav (not in any squad meant for UK) took the advanced beep test in the first batch. All the players comfortably cleared the test and the middle-order batsman is the only member of the squad traveling to the United Kingdom to fail to attain the mark of 16.1 set by the BCCI according to a BCCI official, who told PTI. Other Indian ODI and T20 team players who are part of the squad-Siddharth Kual, Jasprit Bumrah and Yuzuvendra Chahal were in the second pack.

The historic Test between India and Afghanistan at the M Chinnaswamy stadium in Bangalore took the backseat for a good portion of Friday (June 15) as Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni and few others underwent the yo-yo test at the adjoining National Cricket Academy practice grounds.

India's tour of England begins on July 3 with the first of three T20Is but before that, they will be in Ireland for two T20Is on June 27 and 29. The prolific batsman had struggled in England in the 2014 tour, managing just 134 runs in five Tests - at a very poor average of 13.4. The neck injury that Kohli had suffered during IPL resulted in the cancellation of his plan to get accustomed to the English conditions by playing county cricket.
