It appears that Danny Rose will not be leaving Tottenham just yet, as Manchester United reportedly scrapped plans to add another full back to their ranks.
Jose Mourinho has managed to lure in Shakhtar Donetsk's Fred and Porto's Diogo Dalot so far but is still in the hunt for a top quality, experienced centre-back.
He'll need to look elsewhere if he's still determined to move up north, though his options may be limited with United off the table given the strength of Andy Robertson's debut season at Liverpool and Manchester City have Benjamin Mendy. According to the Daily Express United "are in pole position to sign Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford".
Manchester United to complete £52m transfer next week
A transfer to Old Trafford would be a dream move for Rose and he was hoping that a £50m switch would be agreed after the World Cup.
The report says Verratti's agent has already made contact with United chiefs to offer them the chance to sign the 25-year-old and Mourinho could now jump at the chance of signing one of his long-term targets - although no doubt any deal wouldn't be cheap.
