Could Alec Baldwin go from impersonating the president to becoming the president?
"If I ran for president, I would win".
On Monday, Baldwin-who won an Emmy past year for his portrayal of Donald Trump on SNL-told Howard Stern that he could beat the current Commander in Chief if he made a decision to run for the top office in 2020.
"It would be the funniest, most exciting, craziest campaign", Baldwin added.
"If I ran, I would win", Baldwin said.
While discussing the 2020 election, Baldwin said he "can only think of a couple people who I think could beat Trump".
Baldwin has been universally lauded for his hilarious portrayal of Trump during a series of sketches on Saturday Night Live, which began shortly after the 2016 election in November. "Hands down, I would win", Baldwin told Stern.
One user wrote, "the fact that he is so certain that everyone likes him so much to vote for him to be their president is a testament to the average arrogance of Hollywood actors".
"Where are you then?" added Stern, who then mocked Baldwin's game-show hosting duties.
Baldwin did say, however, that he would love to run for that type of position. "There are so many things that this country needs to do that are so obvious".
However, Trump has routinely denounced Baldwin's appearances on the longstanding comedy sketch show. "Somebody great's going to come up, I hope".
"I want the Democrats to have a smart opposition to keep them on their toes", he said.
