Microsoft pulls support agents for Windows 7, 8 and other unsupported products in forums

On the software front, the company says that it will also no longer provide support for Microsoft Security Essentials, Internet Explorer 10, Office 2010 and 2013 as of July.

Microsoft's Answers Community is operated by Microsoft.

While the forums are more miss than hit usually when it comes to finding help, they are certainly very popular as lots of users post there on a daily basis.

The change will take into effect on July 2018, and Microsoft Staff will no longer proactively review, monitor, or answer questions for a certain subset of old Microsoft products (seen below).

According to Microsoft, the move is being made to "shift" its support scope.

"The forums will still be moderated by Microsoft agents to ensure participants can engage in a safe and positive environment".

Zune - this topic will be locked.

Thank you for being part of Microsoft Community!

Over the weekend, Microsoft announced that starting on July 1st 2018 they are no longer offering support for Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, and a wide variety of older applications in the Microsoft Community forums.

Customers are still able to get paid support from Microsoft through to the end of the extended support periods. Users are invited to participate in Microsoft Band 2 topic. As with Windows 7 and 8.1, those products are all past their official support lifecycle as well.

The products listed on that page are Windows 7, Windows 8.1 and Windows 8.1 RT; all three products are still supported (albeit in extended support).

The forum is a hit and miss for support topics, mostly miss, in my opinion.
