Wentz participates in OTAs despite continued knee rehabilitation

Sidestepping political debate, Super Bowl champion QB says he's honored to visit the White House

Carson Wentz explains why he's visiting the White House

It's a great honor.

Pederson is not requiring his players to go, per USA Today: "It's an individual basis [on players deciding to go or not]".

"It's one of those things where again, we're working through a ton of things but at the same time we understand that it's an individual decision", Pederson said.

So players are repeatedly asked their thoughts on the subject, and the media compare pictures of Trump's crowd versus Obama's crowd, and people forget that the whole thing was only ever supposed to be a fun experience for athletes, many of whom would never otherwise have an opportunity to go to the White House, or for presidents who are big sports fans. Wentz has been in the training room with other veterans who rehabbed all offseason after missing the chance to play on the game's biggest stage. "Trust what the trainers and doctors are saying and be smart with it".

Wentz, who suffered a knee injury before the playoffs, watched from the sidelines as the Eagles defeated the New England Patriots 41-33 in Super Bowl LII. On Tuesday, the league finalized plans to donate about $90 million to social justice-related causes supported by many players, and while that was not contingent on a complete cessation of the protests, Jenkins said he would end his own demonstrations.

"At this point, I'm not interested in any discussions on anything right now just with the climate that's been going on in The White House", Jenkins said. The Birds have a visit scheduled for June 5, though they are still working out details.

A larger issue may well surround the attendance of Lurie, which would be awkward given his critical remarks about Trump, comments that the New York Times reported it took from a recording of an October meeting between National Football League owners, players and officials. Considering that they are open to letting him participate in most of the QB drills, it sure seems like there is a lot more information about Wentz's recovery that we don't know.

"Mental aspect is probably just as important as the physical, I think, when you're coming back from these injuries", Wentz said before practice. "I don't view it as a political thing whatsoever". I'm very encouraged with where he's at. "But I think I will be involved in going to that".
