Crowds gather for Memorial Day parade, plaque dedication in Lincoln Park

Memorial Day Celebrations

The service will be officiated by the Rev. Zenon Boczek. Special music will be provided by Christine Foutz. Meet at 9 Arms Trucking, 14818 Mayfield Road in East Claridon. The parade will head south on Main Street, east on Park Street, north on East Street and east on Middle Street before ending at Oak Grove Cemetery. The parade kicks off at 9:30 a.m. from Highpoint and Hudson avenues and will arrive at the Soldier & Sailor Monument on Boulevard East at 11 a.m. To submit your club or society meeting notice, email [email protected] with the name of your organization, time, date and exact location of the meeting with full address. Following Mass will be a Memorial Day service at Dr. Ercel Webb Park/Lafayette Park, followed by a luncheon for all members, family, and friends, at the Broadway Diner, at 1075 Broadway, in Bayonne. The guest speaker will be past state Commander of the Department of Pennsylvania Veterans of Foreign Wars of the U.S., Thomas Brown. The road to the cemetery closes at 9:30 a.m. and stays closed through the ceremony.

Memorial Day events are scheduled for Monday, May 28, unless otherwise noted. There will not be a service Saturday.

Memorial and decoration ceremonies will be Saturday at 10:30 and 11 a.m., respectively, at Lakeview and Forest Hill cemeteries. Special music will be provided by Reese and Diane Livergood's grandson, Noah Carr. Military service provided by Biglerville American Legion Post 262.

- The Korean War Veterans of Hudson County will be honoring all veterans tomorrow at the Korean War Monument at Washington and Dudley Street at 10 a.m.

Plymouth American Legion, will sponsor Memorial Day service at 11 a.m.

The Chippewa Valley Museum in Carson Park will be open from 10 5 p.m. Guests attending are asked to bring a lawn chair or folding chair as seating is limited. Following the concert, military honors will be accorded at the honor roll by the American Legion Edward Arthur Rafferty Post No. 632's Honor Guard.

MEMORIAL DAY PARADE, 11 a.m., starting at the Village of Huntley Municipal Complex, 10987 Main St., then proceed west on Main Street to the Huntley Town Square for a brief ceremony to honor our veterans. The service is sponsored by the Grassflat/Lanse Cemetery Board.

The event was held May 20.

Coakley said anyone desiring to participate in the parade must be registered to lessen the confusion in planning the marching order. Line-up for the parade begins at 3 p.m. and the parade starts at 5 p.m.

Memorial Day weekend events, ceremonies

Jersey Shore Veterans Council Inc. will hold a lost-at-sea service at 6 a.m. Monday at the Route 44 bridge. The schedule includes St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, 10 a.m.; Nativity of the Virgin Mary Cemetery, 10:15 a.m.; Immaculate Conception Church, 10:30 a.m.; and Umbria Cemetery, 10:45 a.m. Taps will be played at each of the cemeteries.

The community and all veterans organizations are invited to participate in a Memorial Day worship service at 9 a.m. Sunday at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, 1915 Hogeboom Ave.

The Osceola Mills Honor Guard will post the colors. The national anthem will be sung by Susan and Dylan Phillips.

Immediately following the parade there will be a Memorial Day service with Pastor Elizabeth Taylor performing the invocation and benediction, and there will be welcome speeches from Loganton Mayor David Shreckengast and Clinton County Commissioner Paul Conklin.

The service will be led by Boy Scout Troop 98 and Girl Scout Troop 70840. The parade will end at the Waterford Cemetery with another ceremony for veterans. The ceremony will end with patriotic music.

Retired Colonel Bob Wetterstroem will serve as this year's keynote speaker for the Gallipolis Memorial Day Parade and ceremony. At 2 p.m., the Memorial Day Honor Ride Motorcycle Rally will enter The Highground.

A Memorial Day service will be held Sunday, May 27 at 2:30 Palcher Park, Ramey. The speaker will be state Rep. Tommy Sankey. Refreshments will be served following the service.

A blessing of St. Vladimir Cemetery will be held Monday, May 28 at 10 a.m.

The Schenck's Cemetery Association will hold its annual Memorial Day service at the cemetery in Howard on Monday at 2 p.m.
