For some gamers, their fondest and earliest memories are of long hours and countless quarters spent in a local arcade blasting through their favorite adventures.

I'm still waiting for the Halo 6 announcement with a full 4K 60FPS experience on the Xbox One X, but in the meantime news has broken about a totally new Halo game, something no one expected.

Today, 343 Industries has announced the next entry in the Halo franchise called Halo: Fireteam Raven.

The project has been in development for years, and now, Halo: Fireteam Raven is finally ready to hit the arcades. It's set in the timeframe of the original Halo: Combat Evolved but offers an arcade version of the first-person shooting mechanics.

The official Halo YouTube page posted more details about this game. You won't play as Master Chief, however, as players take the role of ODST troops fighting Covenant aliens for control of the ringworld alongside the series star and other familiar characters.

"Halo: Fireteam Raven is housed in a massive, epic, and imposing coin-operated arcade machine designed and built by Raw Thrills and Play Mechanix in close collaboration with 343 Industries". The machine has a 130-inch 4K screen with four turret-mounted machine guns for four-player cooperative play.

"Halo: Fireteam Raven is without a doubt, the most spectacular arcade experience we've ever made", said Eugene Jarvis, CEO of Raw Thrills.

Players will also be able to scan a QRC code with their phones and connect with their Halo Waypoint identity while playing.

Halo: Fireteam Raven will start appearing in Dave and Busters across the United States and Canada over the next few months.
