"Our Bureaus Amid dramatic allegations of MLAs being lured with "₹100-crore offers" and busloads of legislators staging sit-ins outside the Raj Bhavan, Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Vala on Wednesday invited the BJP to form the government. It is believed that the party has deployed a helicopter in Bidar and Kalaburgi to trace its four MLAs who are not in touch with the party leadership. ECI, in its notification issued on May 11, said that the polling in the constituency of Jayanagar had been adjourned "due to death of a candidate of a national party", whereas the polling in Rajarajeshwari Nagar constituency is scheduled to take place on May 28.
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who led the Congress to a huge victory in 2013, winning 121 seats, was bullish ahead of results day. Congress Karnataka unit president G Parmeshwara, however, reasserted that all the Congress MLAs were with the party.
Former state Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy had accused the Centre of tapping telephonic conversations of Congress leaders. The petition prepared by advocate Dev Dutt Kamath contended that despite presenting the list of 116 MLAs, governor Vala has invited the BJP which has 104 MLAs to form the government and has given relatively longer time of 15 days to prove the majority on the floor of the House. ECI took this decision after more than 9,700 voter id cards were seized from a flat in Rajarajeshwari Nagar area just two days prior to the election.
Both JDS-Congress combine and BJP had staked claim to form the government after a fractured verdict in the assembly elections. The BJP is defending the Lok Sabha seat against a formidable coalition of smaller/regional parties - Samajwadi Party, Bahujan Samaj Party and Rashtriya Lok Dal - supported by the Congress.

"We asked Governor to allow us to prove our majority on the floor of the House. We will go to the court of the people", Surjewala said, addressing the press in Delhi. BJP is trying hard to get them. We'll make you a minister.
Karnataka BJP's official Twitter handle also deleted a tweet about Yeddyurappa's swearing-in tomorrow, but later tweeted again.
Of the 222 assembly segments in the state, the BJP has won 104, Congress 78 and JD-S 38, including one by its ally Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP).
In this scenario, the Governor - who has been a Minister in Gujarat when Modi was C.M. - delaying taking any decision also seems to be playing into the hands of BJP, giving them time and space for "Operation Lotus" once again; claim Congress leaders.
