I apologize to everyone'.

Foster, who has pleaded not guilty, was charged with domestic violence, forcibly attempting to prevent a victim from reporting a crime and illegal possession of an assault rifle during a February 11 altercation with former girlfriend Elissa Ennis.

The 49ers said they would release Foster if the allegations proved to be true. She said she was testifying as so on Thursday because she "had to do the right thing".

The judge cleared the courtroom to allow for Ennis to compose herself and continue with her testimony, during which she admitted that she was trying to ruin Foster's National Football League career after he said he was leaving her. 'That I was going to f***up his career'. Ennis said. "I really wanted to kill him". Ennis also said "it was all a money scheme". "I wanted to get him", Ennis testified under oath, per David Lombardi of The Athletic. 'It was about money'.

Ennis had accused Foster of attacking her in their Los Gatos home.

San Francisco took Foster with the No. 31 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, but there were plenty of red flags surrounding him. Shortly after the fight Foster attempted to end the relationship, and that's when Ennis went into panic mode.

Ennis had previously told police that he punched her 10 times, dragged her down a flight of stairs, threw her phone, physically forced her outside and spit on her.

The prosecution has opted to proceed against Foster despite her testimony and non-cooperation, but unless they have clear impeaching evidence that challenges her current version, it's going to be a hard case to make beyond a reasonable doubt.

According to multiple reports, Ennis admitted to falsely accusing an ex-boyfriend of domestic assault in Louisiana back in 2011.
