Emily Craft, the owner of two pit bulls believed to have attacked and killed an elderly woman Wednesday morning, was arrested after the mauling on an outstanding warrant from July on two misdemeanor charges - having a dog at large and a vicious animal charge.
Pit bulls were responsible for almost two-thirds of all dog-bite fatalities in America from 2005-2017.
Bloom's owners and other family members attempted to break up the three dogs, and four had their hands bitten in the process. Four people who tried to separate the animals were also bitten. The photo was snapped before he took off.
Around 11:45 a.m., police responded to the scene but the man left leashed up the brown and gray Pit bulls and left without providing contact or vaccination information.
"When she gets in a park like this she just takes off and runs like a gazelle", said Mundy. "And that makes me very nervous because this area isn't fenced in and another thing too is that she is a pit, and not everyone is comfortable with that". Officers searched the area but were not able to find him nor the dogs. "I'd hate to be out in the yard with my dog and them come out me because I wouldn't have a chance". We've got our dogs off-leash.
They have been around for 5 years as of May 19 and have helped so many dogs in need! Three were rushed to hospitals for additional treatment.
Bloom was treated by a vet. Anyone with information on the case may call the 24-hour tip line at 415-575-4444 or text "SFPD" to TIP411.
