No stopping for BJP's victory chariot: Amit Shah

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday said the Karnataka election results had set the course for a "bigger victory" for the BJP and the NDA in the 2019 general elections. To rally the community's support, Shah did not rely exclusively on chief ministerial candidate B S Yeddyurappa, a Lingayat.

BJP leader from Andhra Pradesh and daughter of TDP founder NT Rama Rao's daughter Purandareswari, who had dumped the Congress after the state was bifurcated, was confronted by people when she went to campaign in Telugu-dominated areas in Karnataka.

The BJP emerged as the single largest party but fell nine seats short of a majority in Karnataka Legislative Assembly polls, the results of which were declared yesterday. "You can not undermine the importance of regional parties in the politics", Goa Forward Party President Vijai Sardesai said. Voting for two seats is yet to take place.

Addressing the party workers, Y.Patton on behalf of the State BJP credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi and national BJP president Amit Shah for the victory. We also have similar dream to win on 18 seats during next assembly election. BJP gained good number of seats in the Karnataka elections and PM Modi also expressed his joy over the outcome. Forget winning 35 seats, the party may even fail to get to double figures if they fail to make amends and respect the coalition partners. "The feedback by the team will help in deciding Mr Shah's tour itinerary during his poll campaign in coming days", the BJP leader said.

The former parliamentarian cited the example of Goa, Manipur and Meghalaya Assembly elections when the BJP had secured less seats compared to the Congress and the governors of the three states had asked the BJP to form the government.
