The New York Daily News reported that a regular customer was speaking Spanish with a Hispanic employee and that's what set the man off. Suazo wrote on the post that his wife and her friend were speaking Spanish with the cashier when Schlossberg went off and threatened to call Immigration and Customs Enforcement. "The least they can do, the least they can do is speak English". If they have the balls to come here and live off of my money - I pay for their welfare. (Honestly, has he spent any time in NY?) In the United States, there are more than 38 million Spanish speakers.
In his post, Suazo said: "What a big man talking down to couple of women and a helpless employee". Keeping your voice at a certain level is important, as well as making eye contact with other people who are there to see if they will join you in intervening.
"I wish I was there because clearly this peace of shit need someone to punch him in his mouth!" Asshole! My country! Haha I love the way people are just throwing that world around lately!
When confronted by an employee of the cafe, the man continued to yell at the women and threatened to call ICE.
"You know where I'm getting!"
The manager tried to diffuse the situation by saying that sometimes the workers do speak Spanish.
He later stressed that since Schlossberg was a customer, he as manager "had to stay professional and ask him to leave".
Aaron Schlossberg, the Manhattan lawyer who achieved instant internet infamy for confronting Spanish-speaking people in a deli, gave $500 to Donald Trump's presidential campaign. "Take a break from the food", the man says before walking away, to which the woman responds, "Maybe you should get hit by a vehicle, you piece of [expletive]!"
As a reference, only 51 percent of New Yorkers actually speak English at home, according to a 2012 WNYC report.
This is where one might point out that if these employees really were undocumented, they wouldn't be getting welfare, but that assumes racists actually care if the logic of their rants remains internally consistent.
