While flash flooding is a condition that typically occurs near rivers, Ocean City can experience conditions similar to flash flooding if heavy rain coincides with high tide.

The St. Joseph River below Montpelier, Ohio, is to experience a moderate flood, the National Weather Service said today.

Officials say runoff could flood small streams, poor drainage areas and low-lying areas.

He did not anticipate river flooding to be an issue this week. "Freshwater inundation expected beginning Friday morning, with potential to significantly raise tide levels above normal by several feet", the National Weather Service said.
