Cause it'd be super lame to spoil the face that Deadpool dies in this one.
One last thing: please stay through the end credits; Deadpool has a few things to tidy up before you leave. Nearly everything you either loved or gritted at in the original is here expanded, refined, sometimes even invigorated. But yes, I definitely got to work with more people this time. Some jokes are suited to the plot or situation; there's a Goonies reference that seemingly went over the head of my audience, as well as a fantastic Terminator line.
For the most part, reviews are positive. Deadpool 2 now has a Rotten Tomatoes score of 82%, which is slightly worse than the first movie's 83% score. Thus, you can get pretty drunk within the first hour hearing all the digs at Marvel, Disney and DC. They never feel organic and are oftentimes layered on top of each other, barely giving the first joke time to breathe before another shoves its way in. You can see both Reynolds and Leitch's fingerprints all over it, even while it finds a way to honor X-Men comic book lore perhaps more than any Fox film before it. The wise-cracking anti-hero and his girlfriend Vanessa (Morena Baccarin) are living in blissful domesticity and have made a decision to start a family when a tragedy tears them apart. "One or two of the gags land - such as a non sequitur about Guy Pearce - but Deadpool 2 is mostly just a carbon-copy of its smugly satisfied predecessor". A film is possible if the story is set before the events of James Mangold-directed film.
We didn't think it was possible to love Ryan Reynolds and his wife Blake Lively more until the Deadpool 2 actor phoned into On Air With Ryan Seacrest on Tuesday, May 15. He nearly steals the movie from Ryan Reynolds. Cable's arrival infuses new life into the film as Brolin and Reynolds banter with each other. Lurking behind its constant self-critiques - pointing out plot holes before you can, acknowledging when its puckish humor edges toward racism but making the joke anyway - is a unusual combination of cleverness and cowardice, a self-inoculation against the very responses it goes out of its way to provoke. Brolin is hilarious as the gruff, taciturn time-traveler chronically annoyed with Deadpool when he isn't trying to murder a child. Karan Soni, however, gets to display much of his manic humour that he brought from the first movie. But Deadpool's mutant power makes him essentially unkillable: In the first film, he shatters his hands punching the X-Man Colossus (Stefan Kapicic) and grows new ones by the next fight.
Also at the premiere were Josh Brolin, who plays the time-traveling mutant soldier Cable, Morena Baccarin, who plays the love interest of Deadpool, Zazie Beetz, who plays Domino - a mercenary with the mutant ability to manipulate luck, and Brianna Hildebrand who plays Negasonic Teenage Warhead, a teenage member of the X-men.
Deadpool escapes and decides to pursue redemption by rescuing Randall with his newly assembled X-Force, a posse of simpatico superheroes who are "tough, morally flexible, and young enough to carry this franchise another 10 to 12 years". Her new song for the film is called "Ashes" and also features Reynolds' character in the music video. The big difference is the character growth.
