The Gavitt Tipoff Games schedule begins on Tuesday, Nov. 13, with Georgetown playing at IL and Wisconsin traveling to Xavier. All games will be televised on FS1 or BTN.
The Wildcats defeated the Wolverines, 79-62, at the Alamodome in San Antonio to win the national championship for the second time in three years.
The game is part of the annual series featuring teams from the Big Ten and Big East, it's set for November 13 at State Farm Center. Junior guard Myles Powell paces the Pirates, as he averaged 15.5 points and 2.8 assists per game to help coach Kevin Willard reach the NCAA Tournament for the third straight year. The NCAA Tournament teams are: Creighton, Michigan, Ohio State, Seton Hall, Villanova and Xavier.
Georgetown went 15-15 last season with a 5-13 record in Big East play during former Hoyas great and NBA All-Star Patrick Ewing's first season as coach. The Nov. 14 matchups include Marquette at IN and Seton Hall at Nebraska as well as the Michigan-Villanova game.
Xavier beat the Badgers, 80-70, in the 2017 Gavitt Games in Madison.
The 2018 game will be the first home contest for Nebraska in the series.
The series of games is in honor of the late Dave Gavitt, who founded of the Big East Conference and was a pioneer in the basketball world. Teams from both conferences already meet in some traditional rivalry games, and those matchups will continue in the upcoming seasons. The 2018-19 slate will also include 20 Big Ten games, as pairings were announced last month. He was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2006.
