Nintendo has announced when the free Mario Tennis Aces pre-launch online tournament will take place on Nintendo Switch.

Tennis hopefuls will be able to pick from four playable characters - Mario, Peach, Yoshi, and Bowser - and take part in online multiplayer matches in a tournament format.

By downloading the free software from Nintendo eShop before the tournament starts, players can look forward to a weekend of fast and fun tennis action, as the tournament is open from 16.00 CEST on Friday 1 June until 00.59 CEST on Monday 4 June.

So far, the Pre-Launch Online Tournament's timings have only been announced for Europe, with no mention of when the beta will come to the United States and Australia. As you advance through the tournament stages you'll earn points based on your performance, allowing you to unlock another five additional characters to play with.

Lastly, those who participate in the online tournament will get Mario's "Overalls Mario" outfit for the full version of the game.

Nintendo also released an overview trailer for Mario Tennis Aces, showing off more of the racquet break-ability as well as the story mode (which looks incredibly extensive). Last we heard the game is set for a release on the 22nd of June and the good news is that if you wanted to check out the game before buying it, you'll be pleased to learn that there will be a playable demo ahead of its release.
