SAFA President Danny Jordaan to offer advice for Moroccan World Cup bid committee

The executives in charge of the Morocco 2026 World Cup bid know that this week is crucial to determine the fate of their work.

The Moroccan foreign minister said following the 29th Arab Summit, held in the Saudi city of Dhahran on Sunday, that it "unanimously affirmed its support for Morocco's bid to host the 2016 FIFA World Cup and called on all States to provide full and unwavering support to this bid".

South Africa voiced on Monday its backing to Morocco's bid to host the 2026 World Cup.

The country was second to the US for 1994, behind France for 1998 and just lost out to South Africa for the 2010 finals, the only time the event has been held in Africa.

The president of the South African Federation of Football (SAFA), Danny Jordaan, promised Morocco's bid committee that he will "personally lobby" Africa's football leaders before the vote.

Lars-Christer Olsson, CEO of the 32-member European Leagues group, says leagues have already been flexible to allow the World Cup to be played in the (Qatari) winter and have agreed the dates.
