Since its original release it has somewhat of a cult following, and that is a good thing, the series has been superb and deserved to be played again or even get newcomers to the series, just in time for the new sequel.
As Kotaku notes, both Shenmue I and Shenmue II will be arriving for Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC later this year, giving a whole lot of gamers some serious deja vu. Each title will support scalable screen resolutions as well as PC custom graphics options.
The games are at once polished and yet filled with rough edges, and it's very likely that some modern tweaks (right down to camera and character control) will be required not to repel first-timers from sinking into the full experience.
Furthermore, players will be able to choose between English and Japanese voice options.
The games will be released in both physical and digital formats, and they'll feature improved textures, which should come as a relief to anyone who remembers the original Dreamcast versions. That will surely come as welcome news to those who found the game's English voiceovers to be the source of some awkward, unintentionally amusing moments. All we know is that it will be released this year with no exact date.
Since their original release, Shenmue I & II have established a passionate following and are revered as one of gaming's greatest series of all time.
While Shenmue II isn't quite as historically significant as its predecessor, it's arguably the better game.
