Netflix Appoints Fmr. Obama Advisor Susan Rice to Board of Directors

Today, Netflix announced that Susan Rice, former USA ambassador to the United Nations and President Barack Obama's national security advisor, was joining the company's board of directors.

The former ambassador's most recent government role was under former President Barack Obama, where she provided him with the daily national security briefing, and directed the staff of the National Security Council from 2013-2017. National Rifle Association spokeswoman Dana Loesch took to Twitter to describe Netflix as "the flawless place for a former staffer who blamed a terror attack on a poorly-made short film".

"We are delighted to welcome Ambassador Rice to the Netflix board", Hastings statement said. Today's announcement about Rice's appointment to the Netflix board of director caused conservative outrage on Twitter.

Republican supporters even threatened to cancel their Netflix subscriptions and accused the former president of talking with Netflix for a production deal.

Having such great experience and probably the best recommendations, the 53-year-old has now joined Netflix's board of directors, The Hollywood Reporter reports.

Rice and Netflix CEO Reed Hastings released statements regarding her joining the video streaming company, Variety reports.

Rice said she was thrilled to be joining a "cutting-edge company whose leadership, high-quality productions and unique culture" she admired deeply.
