DSP Hafi Imtiaz told the media that Soofian was arrested shortly after the incident in which a man hurled a shoe at PTI chief during his address to party workers on Tuesday.

A shoe was hurled at Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf chief Imran Khan during a rally in Gujrat city in Punjab province.

Imran, who appeared to have not noticed that the incident happened, remained safe. ECP declared the reference from PTI Chairman Imran Khan to be based on dishonesty. It had followed some media reports suggesting that she will join PML-N.

Todays incident is the third such attack on politicians in the span of a week.

Earlier on Sunday, a miscreant hurled a shoe at Pakistan's former prime minister Nawaz Sharif when he was about to address a gathering at Jamia Naeemia's mosque in Lahore. After throwing the show at Nawaz Sharif man also raised the slogan "Labbaik Ya Rasoolullah". A man was arrested after the incident; however, Asif said he should be released saying he has no enmity with him.

He said as many as 15 people were interrogated in connection with the incident.

Last month, a man hurled a shoe at Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal while he was addressing a workers' convention in Narowal.
