He'll have to adjust quickly to calling the shots for Team Flash and serving as their eyes from STAR Labs while Iris is zipping around in what we can only assume will be a new suit custom made for her by the talented Cisco Ramon.
There we saw her acting all awkward, getting excited at Barry and Iris' wedding. Then she was spotted in "The Elongated Knight Rises" episode. Listed in the scripts as "Mystery Girl", fans have been theorizing on the identity of the character and executive producer Todd Helbing commented on the speculation following a press screening for this week's episode of The Flash.
We do think that "Run, Iris, Run" was a pretty fun episode with a lot of different twists to it, but ultimately we do think that this was an episode that was most effective when it focused on characters doing everything that they could to better understand each other. "I think that's the direction we're going to head back into".
Helbing's comments appear to have shut down the most popular theories on the mystery girl. During a battle with Team Flash, Matthew accidentally takes Barry's (Grant Gustin) speed away and gives it to Iris (Candice Patton). She first made her entrance during the crossover episode "Crisis on Earth X" on Supergirl.
One of the wildly popular theories suggests that Kennedy's character is Iris and Barry's future daughter and speedster Dawn Allen. A version of her costume will be worn by Iris when she gains Barry's speed in this week's episode. Are viewers in for another appearance from the Mystery Girl? Now that she's met nearly all other members of team Flash, we're waiting for her identity to be revealed soon. All that's left for her to meet is Joe (Jesse L. Martin).
On Tuesday night, The Flash will continue to race to season 4's finish line with "Run, Iris, Run".
