As per General Administration Order No.433-GAD of 2018 Dated 13.03.2018 in pursuance of Rule 5 of the Jarnmu and Kashmir Government Business Rules and as an interim measure, Ms Mufti, Chief Minister, Jammu and Kashmir has assigned the charge of the Departments of Finance, Labour and Employment to Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari in addition to the Government Business already assigned to him.

"The fact is that it is a long-held belief and I have repeatedly said it that the engagement with Kashmir should be at various levels", he said.

Political observers feel that Mehbooba was driven towards sacking Drabu also by the separatists, opposition National Conference and certain other parties that described Drabu's statement as yet another "political sellout by Mehbooba to stay in power". The Governor, after examining the letter, wrote back to the chief minister conveying his nod to her request to drop the 57-year-old Drabu from her council of ministers, officials said. Yes, we condemned the statement he (Drabu) gave that this (Kashmir) was not an (political) issue. "I finally got a call to meet the CM at 7.15 pm".

In the 21-point statement, Drabu said the decision to "drop me did come as a surprise but what was shocking was the manner and method of communicating it".

The PDP said it recognised the state as a political issue and had been pursuing its resolution through reconciliation and dialogue - both at internal and external levels.

"Indeed, the terms and conditions based on which the current PDP-BJP alliance was formed, the Agenda of alliance, was drafted under his guidance". He was the public works (road and buildings) minister during the tenure of former CM Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. "Every single meeting, discussion and negotiations were done with the knowledge and consent of the Patron and the President".

There were reports that the coterie led by Mehbooba's maternal uncle and vice-president of PDP Sartaj Madni was unhappy with Drabu who was an authority in financial sector and was trying to stem out corruption by introducing the online system of payments by government departments. "I am very grateful to them for their love and affection".
