Atletico Madrid will reportedly make one last attempt to convince Antoine Griezmann to remain at the club, by offering him a new contract amid interest from Barcelona.

Barcelona were 2-0 winners at Malaga on Saturday with Luis Suarez and Philippe Coutinho on target, as Lionel Messi missed the game to attend the birth of his third child. "We go from game to game".

It's of no surprise Atletico are keen for that partnership to continue to flourish, though Costa's presence would also make Griezmann's departure somewhat more palatable as they'd still have a reliable goalscorer in the side. He scored his eighth goal in five matches after a neat move inside the area just before halftime. The France forward cleared two Celta players by faking a shot near the goal, then sent the ball into the top far corner to open the scoring at the Metropolitano.

"I talk about realities, and not suppositions", Simeone said. "Tomorrow is another day".

Griezmann then set up the second goal in the 54th with a pin-point through ball to the feet of Spain worldwide Vitolo, who scored his first Liga goal for Atletico since his move from Sevilla.

Atletico goalkeeper Jan Oblak returned to the team after a groin injury kept him out of the Europa League last-16 first leg win over Lokomotiv Moscow on Thursday.

Celta stayed ninth with the loss, its second in three matches.

Celta Vigo showed some resistance early in the second half, when they were trailing 1-0, and shortly before conceding the second goal. Thereafter, Simeone's side will face sixth-placed Villarreal in La Liga.

Also yesterday, Gerard Moreno got the victor, his 12th goal of the season, as Espanyol beat Real Sociedad 2-1, and Raul Garcia's brace gave Athletic Bilbao a 2-0 win over Leganes.

Garcia scored in the 10th and 17th minutes at San Mames Stadium to move Athletic to 12th place.
