A nine-year-old girl from Wisconsin has died after her brother accidentally shot her, according to state authorities.

The 34-year-old man found dead inside a home on the 2500 block of North 17th Street had holed himself up inside the residence for several hours.

Investigators say Jelks was was accidentally shot by her minor brother inside a home near 38th and Ruby. Police rescued the woman and arrested two men.

The incident began early Friday when three gunmen entered a home and kidnapped a man and a woman.

For almost five hours Saturday afternoon, Milwaukee police blocked off the home to collect evidence.

Officers responded to the shooting at 12:10 p.m. on Saturday inside a home near North 38th Street and West Ruby Avenue. The kidnappers took the pair to another home.

"Less-than-lethal chemical agents were placed into the residence in an attempt to get the suspect out", Morales said. Another neighbor said the family moved there about a year ago.
