The second open beta for Konami's "Metal Gear Survive" has already started, so if any "Metal Gear" fans still have any doubts regarding the next entry in the prestigious franchise, now is the time to ty it out for free. This fact combined with the atypical gameplay of Metal Gear Survive that deviates from the usual emphasis on stealth and tactics had some series fans anxious about the game, but reception of previous betas seems to be fairly decent so far.
All players who take part in the Metal Gear Survive beta will receive a special Fox Hound nameplate, a Metal Gear Rex head accessory, and a bandanna accessory if they decide to buy the full game. The beta includes three missions across two maps, all playable in co-op for up to four players. In addition to that, Konami is offering special daily missions for the duration of the beta.
Konami has come under a lot of controversy for releasing this spin-off title from fans beloved Metal Gear series which was originally created by Hideo Kojima (who was sacked from Konami). After the first beta weekend, players flocked to social media to "out" how bad the game felt, and how it had no vision. It seems that a major disparity exists, and only time will tell whether the game is actually a good one or not. While I only got to check out the cooperative multiplayer portion of Metal Gear Survive, there is a fully fledged single-player component.
Metal Gear Survive launches on February 20 and will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
