Both versions are ARM instruction-set compatible, but the Exynos 9810 is designed differently from the Snapdragon 845. The SD845's specs are impressive - they're now running eight Kryo 385 cores, which are actually four Cortex-A75 performance cores paired with four Cortex-A55 efficiency cores. According to Tom's Guide's Geekbench 4 test, it outperformed not only last year's Snapdragon 835 on the Galaxy Note 8 but also the Huawei Mate 10's Kirin 970, one of the surprising upstarts in the mobile silicon market.
For starters, we would like to mention that you should expect some performance improvements from the latest Snapdragon 845 processor as well which is same as the last year and the year before that with the flagship processors from Qualcomm. In fact, the Snapdragon 845 development device that Qualcomm provided for testing has slower memory than some other commercial devices and is around the same form factor as the other devices tested rather than a thick development device that has excessive cooling. The 845 test device that was utilized was able to garner a score of 267,476 in Antutu 7.0.4. Arriving with them is Qualcomm's next-generation mobile platform, the Snapdragon 845. It has been built on the second-generation 10nm LPP process, and features the new GPU.
Talking about the graphics performance, the Adreno GPU on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 scores well over its predecessor with a 14 percent increase in physics performance and about 25 percent increase in overall GPU performance over last year's. How an OEM customizes a device has a huge impact on how it ultimately performs. But how much of an improvement is it over the Snapdragon 835 and rival chipsets? This new version appears to incorporate the use of a 3-DoF controller with the possibility of a 6-DoF possibly coming down the road.
The chipset's Spectra 280 image signal processor should improve photos, while its 3D face-mapping support will open the door for Android phone makers to compete with Apple's Face ID facial-recognition system on the iPhone X. That means you can stream videos in 4K 360 at 20%-30% less power or get more battery life out of the same battery size or reduce battery size and still get the same battery life. The Google Pixel 2, the OnePlus 5T, the HTC U11, the Sony Xperia XZ Premium, the Nokia 8... the list goes on, and there's no reason to believe that their inevitable 2018 replacements will upgrade to the Snapdragon 845 as well. The more pertinent question is, shouldn't Qualcomm be delivering more?
But, at the very least, we know graphics performance is promising.
