She's back! Original "Heathers" star Shannen Doherty makes a surprise appearance in the wild new (and totally NSFW) trailer for the "Heathers" reboot. But if TV Land wishes to transfer the appeal of the cult classic that starred a very young Winona Ryder and Christian Slater, they should recall the film's own sage advice: if you want to fuck with the eagles, first you have to learn to fly. One of the Heathers is gender non-binary. In contrast to many films on high school in the '80s (most notably the classic John Hughes flims), Heathers wasn't afraid to kill off a few youngsters to satirize how brutal being a teenager can be.
First off, each season will center around an entirely new group of Heathers (à la American Horror Story), starting with an unexpected trio including a genderqueer boy. If so, you may or may not take this well, so please sit down (and keep your bleach locked up): Heathers is becoming a TV show! The cast also includes Brendan Scannell, James Scully, Melanie Field, Jasmine Mathews, and original movie star Shannen Doherty.
Based on the 1988 film, the dark comedy will be set in the present day and follow Veronica Sawyer (Grace Victoria Cox), a girl dealing with her own group of vicious Heathers. The much-anticipated reboot perfectly blends drama, love, rivalry, and comedy into a modern-day masterpiece.
Heathers the TV series will premiere on the Paramount Network in the USA on March 7, although there's no word yet on when we might see it here.
