Man City midfielder Gundogan: Klopp wanted me at Liverpool

Mohamed Salah of Liverpool is challenged by Harry Maguire of Leicester City during the Premier League match between Liverpool and Leicester City at Anfield

Every game Manchester City have played against Liverpool at Anfield since 2003... and failed to win

City, still in the hunt for four trophies this term, could also become the first team to win a top-flight match at Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United in the same season since Wimbledon in 1986-87.

But this time things could be different with Sterling enjoying the best form of his career ahead of the Premier League leaders' trip to Merseyside on Sunday.

Scoring 23 goals already this season since his £37.1m move from Roma, the 24-year-old has put in some real magic into the Liverpool side.

Leroy Sane insists he has nothing to fear from Alexis Sanchez's potential move to Manchester City.

"I didn't say that English coverage is immature. Of course, he has to be calm and play the game he has to play".

Both teams were level on seven points when they met in the fourth round of Premier League matches and Klopp believes the result was something of a turning point in both clubs' campaigns.

Despite interest from Premier League outfits, none are prepared to go anywhere near the £30m Liverpool are demanding and his reported £150,000-a-week wages, according to the Daily Mail.

Since losing to Tottenham on October 22, Liverpool are unbeaten in 17 matches in all competitions and 13 in the league, their best run under Jurgen Klopp.

He said: "It's a real test to go to Anfield, one of the most prestigious stadiums and teams in the world".

"They didn't do too badly before that but after they were like, "Ah, we are really good".

"I you want to achieve something that is good and win titles you have to win on these kind of stages", he said. I think two or three weeks, against Basel in the Champions League, he could be ready'.

"They have two choices - follow what you [journalists] said or follow me".

Indeed, Liverpool have lost only twice in their last eight encounters with Manchester City, although the second defeat was a 5-0 trouncing in September.
